Continuing the Foundations of Reading...from the early years...

Learning to Read - The Resilient way

Every child deserves to experience the confidence, joy, and self-belief that comes with learning to read.

The Resilient Reader Curriculum is designed for children who find reading challenging.

Particularly for children who experience challenges with working memory, auditory processing, phonics, blending, decoding, or reading confidence.

This approach recognises that children are not struggling because they cannot learn.

They may be struggling because their brains learn differently, and their working memory, sound processing, and confidence need to be supported differently

Why early support matters...

Reading is not just about recognising words. It requires children to hold sounds in mind, blend them, track letters and words, remember meaning, and build fluency.

For some children, this is a very complex skill to learn, as it places a heavy load on working memory.

We support reading differently by including...

Auditory Discrimination

Auditory Processing

Vowel Accuracy

Working Memory

Reading Mindset

Our goal...

The goal is not simply to help children read more words.

The goal is to help children understand how they learn, build confidence in their ability, and develop the skills and strategies they need to become resilient readers.

Because every child deserves to say:

“This is how I learnt to read.”
